Philip Turner

Consultant knee and trauma surgeon specialising in sport injuries and arthritis of the knee joint.

Phil is a Consultant knee and trauma surgeon with a special interest in knee trauma, especially sports injuries of the knee and surgery of arthritis of the knee joint.

Phil Turner has been a Consultant in Trauma and Orthopaedics at Stepping Hill Hospital, Stockport since 1989. His practice is almost exclusively knee surgery, with special interests in arthroscopic (keyhole) surgery, ligament reconstruction, articular cartilage repair, the surgical management of arthritis in the younger patient, knee replacement and revision surgery. He also has wide experience of managing trauma.

He is actively involved in research and audit of outcomes. He has organised many teaching programmes and conferences for knee surgeons, and has lectured throughout the UK and overseas.

Phil is knee and trauma surgeon to several Premiership and League football clubs and other professional and elite sports organisations.

In addition to his clinical work, he is the Head of Training and Programme Director for orthopaedics in the North West Deanery and has been awarded a National Bronze award for Clinical Excellence.

He consults at the Alexandra Hospital in Cheadle.
